Medical Aid Fund for Poor Patients

Your gift pays poor patients' hospital bills directly. ♥ Donate

A single hospital bill can push a poor family into debt for years. Sadh Samaj Charitable Trust’s medical aid fund pays for treatment that poor patients cannot afford – always straight to the hospital, so every rupee you give goes to the treatment.

What your donation pays for

  • Rs 10,000 pays for one free cataract operation for a patient from our eye camps
  • Rs 21,000 is our usual kanyadan gift towards the wedding of a daughter from a poor family
  • Any amount goes into the common medical aid fund that the trustees use for the most urgent hospital bills

Hospital bills, paid directly

Cases come to the trust through its members and partner hospitals. The trustees and working committee look at each one and, where they agree, pay the hospital directly, so the money goes only to the treatment. In July 2026, for example, the trust transferred Rs 75,000 to a hospital for a poor patient’s treatment within hours, and promised more at discharge.

It has worked this way for a decade: Rs 45,000 for a poor patient in 2016; Rs 40,000 to a Kanpur hospital in 2017; Rs 35,000 sent straight to the hospital for a child’s operation in 2017; Rs 15,400 for another child’s operation in 2018; monthly help with dialysis; and an oxygen concentrator for a young woman with no income whose lungs had been damaged by TB.

Free cataract operations

Patients found at our free eye camps who need a cataract operation have it done free at a partner eye hospital, and the trust pays – about Rs 10,000 for each operation. 27 operations were done in the week after our July 2026 camp.

Help for daughters’ weddings

Through its kanyadan help, the trust gives money – usually Rs 21,000 – towards the wedding of a daughter from a poor family. In 2021 it gave Rs 11,000 for the wedding of a poor, orphaned girl.

Support for the elderly

In May 2016 about 20 members served lunch at an old age home off Mathura Road, New Delhi, which houses about 130 elderly people. The trust gave Rs 50,000 and adopted 10 of its residents, paying their costs for the following months.

Fund this work

Donations for medical aid go into a common fund that the trustees use for the most urgent cases. The trust is a small volunteer trust: its funds go to the cases its members and partner hospitals bring to it, and it cannot take individual requests for financial help by email.
