When disaster strikes, the poorest lose the most – their work, their food and often their homes. Sadh Samaj Charitable Trust has stepped in during floods and the Covid-19 pandemic with food, clothes, medicines and masks, delivered by its own members.

Covid-19 relief, 2020–21
When the lockdown left daily-wage workers without work or food, the trust changed how it ran its kitchens overnight:
- Meals made free: the Rs 5 charge for Ghar Ki Rasoi meals was dropped, and the van got a curfew pass for its volunteers
- Delhi: free meals twice a day for 1,400–2,000 people a day (spring 2020), at about Rs 15 a person
- Farrukhabad: 500–600 lunch packets a day, handed out with the district administration to brick-kiln workers’ families, tent settlements, passers-by and ambulance staff
- 10,000 masks handed out free; dry-ration kits (atta, dal, rice, sugar, oil, spices) for families in Delhi, Noida and Farrukhabad
- About Rs 17 lakh raised by the trust’s members for its Corona Relief Fund in the first days of the lockdown
- 2021 second wave: a Covid doctor saw patients every evening at the trust’s Lajpat Nagar dispensary; help with hospital beds, oxygen and medicines; rations for 100 families
Three members of the Delhi Legislative Assembly wrote to thank the trust for this work in 2020 – read their letters on our Media page.
